Flexi Tank
Whenever there is a requirement of a certain nature, the market is quick to respond to the same. This is quite normal and regular in shipping.
Bulk liquid shippers felt the need to be able to use something that is more cost effective than an ISO tank but at the same time fulfilling a requirement similar to that of an ISO tank.
Enter FLEXITANK which is a bladder or bag that can be fit into a standard ISO container and used for the transport and/or storage of a non-regulated liquid inside a cargo transport unit (container).
Some of the cargoes that are shipped in Flexi tanks are foodstuff, base oils, beer, molasses, glycerin, fruit juices, non-hazardous chemicals, latex, egg products, water, oils, bio-diesel, edible oils, wine, non-hazardous pharmaceuticals, chemicals and industrial products.
Once the tanks are placed inside the 20′ container and filled, it is protected from moving, by placing a bulkhead fixture at the end of the container. You can click on the below images to see the enlarged version.
This will effectively convert a box container into a tanker. Flexi tanks comes in both top loading and bottom loading flexi tanks.
